Comfy Layers

Today's post is inspired by Jennifer Aniston. I love her casual and comfy looks. With it getting colder, layering is my friend. This assemble put me out of my comfort zone. Rolled jeans with tan suede boots and a black blazer? Never would of tried it before, but today I'm rocking it. The floral tank top gives it a feminine touch while the grey hoodie softens the look.

Lucky Red

Today is game 6 of the World Series. It's Texas vs. St. Louis. I am and will always be a Seattle Mariners fan first. However, my second favorite team has always been the Texas Rangers. I don't know if it's because many of the M's players have played for them, their passion for the game of baseball, or how they were always the underdog and have now made their way to the top. Regardless, come post-season I'm rooting for the Rangers (since the M's have seem to make it their life goal to be one of the two teams who have never made it to the World Series).

This last summer, I was lucky enough to watch the Rangers play in Texas. Although it was over a 100 degrees most of the game and I had to be exposed to ALOT of Texas pride, it was one of the best games I've ever been to. Texas was down in the bottom of the 9th when Josh Hamilton came to bat and hit a home run, winning the game. That day I was wearing my red tank top. I haven't worn it since because in WA it's never 100+ degrees. Today I decide that it could be my lucky top. I paired it with a cream cardi, jeans, and the ever comfortable Toms. Making it acceptable for the 41 degree Seattle fall weather.

Good luck Rangers! Here's to your first World Series win EVER! (And then please teach the M's how you did it)

Grey Matters

My newest color combo obsession: grey and teal. Especially when it gives me the chance to wear my Toms. I love when  fashion is for a good cause: http://www.toms.com/

Fitness Couture

Today I added a new workout routine; walking. I am not a morning person. I don't have the energy to run before 9am, so I decided to walk. It's better than lying in bed and then I can do my runs and yoga in the evening when I have more energy. Sometimes it's better to start things off slow. This morning it was raining, but I still enjoyed my brisk stroll. Being fashionable is now trending to active wear. I'm loving the styles Nike, Lululemon, and others are creating.  My new wish list consists of workout items that can easily go from the gym to the street. Here are my top 2 versatile items:
Lululemon Scuba Jacket. Warm enough for a morning walk , but cute enough for the weekend movies.
Zella "Live-In" Leggings. Perfect for long runs and  for under skirts or dresses when you need that extra warmth.

Night out with Crush

Last night, myself and my two besties went to Seattle Restaurant Week at Crush. One of us had been waiting 5 years to try this restaurant and through her lucky stars, she ended up working with the head Chef at Crush. The experience at Crush was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. We received excellent wine and off-menu items compliments of the Chef and Pastry Chef. Everything we tried was savory and exquisite. It ranged from Douglas Fir Sorbet to Peppercorn Roasted Flat Iron Steak to Crisp Berkshire Port Belly (just to name a few items of our 6-course meal). I can't even begin to describe how incredible Crush is. It is somewhere that needs to be experienced to truly appreciate. (http://www.chefjasonwilson.com/).

Because of this grand occasion, we decided to dress up a bit. One of the many things I love about my gorgeous friends is their own style. When it comes to going out on the town, we have our preferences and looks that set us apart from the rest. Below you can see our dinning couture (and good luck guessing who is who!)

Floral Fall

With temperatures reaching mid 60's this week, a heavy sweater wouldn't do. Having an open knit sweater is great for layering and adding a subtle background canvas for printed scarves.

Blush Vintage

My dear friends and I went exquisite wine tasting last weekend. We explored the Wenatchee Valley and sipped on some of the best wine I've ever had. Exploring all the local wineries was such an intimate experience. We met the wine makers, toured the cellars, and even danced to a local band. The weather was absolutely perfect! Mid 60's, sunny, and a hint of fall crispness. I took advantage of the weekend to try some new assembles. They both turned out lovely, although next time wear flats when wine tasting. You tend to do a lot of walking through uneven ground and steps, plus after 8 wineries you won't be very stable in heels.

Here is a list of the local wineries we visited:
http://www.beaumontcellars.com/ :The Rose was my favorite
http://www.whiteheronwine.com/ : We all ended up buying a bottle of the Roussane
http://www.fairelepont.com/ : Tre Amore Red blend is fantastic
http://www.malagaspringswinery.com/: One of the best wineries, ideal red wines, good blends, and unlimited tasting. The owner (who looks like Robert Redford) shared many details of his wines and we had an excellent time.
http://www.baronesscellars.com/: Their Port is smooth and unique. A must is their Engelwein White Gluhwien, it can be served hot for the winter months.

Today's Outfit: Leather and Flannel

Living in the Pacific Northwest, you will see lots of flannel. It's easy to turn this into a cute casual look by just adding leather. Pairing flannel with leather and heels gives it a trendy style that easily transfers it from the woods to downtown.

Tuesday's Treat!

Now that it's fall, we are back to our MNF get togethers. Each week is a theme, last  night was Pizza. Someone mentioned the idea of having a dessert pizza, so I quickly threw one together from what I had at home. This is a very simple dessert that tastes oh so good.

Recipe:
  • Pre-made pizza crust (plain)
  • Nutella
  • Chocolate Toppings of your choice

Cook pizza crust as listed on package
Remove from oven and while crust is still hot, spread Nutella evenly over the crust
Add chocolate toppings (I used Hershey Bars and Reeses PB Cups)
Place the dessert pizza back in oven for a few minutes to allow chocolate to melt a little.
Remove and let cool.
