#1 Rule of Bikini Fittings

#1 Rule of trying to find the right bikini: NEVER try one on by yourself. I'm guilty of doing just that. I tried on countless bikini's, spent the moolah, and kept thinking that I looked horrible. It wasn't until my bestie came over and told me differently. Your bikini approval buddy should encompass the following traits:

  1. Honesty: They are not afraid to tell you if you look hideous, or if it isn't the right fit
  2. Knows body types: They know what type of swimsuit you should wear to flatter your figure. They won't let you wear something that shows the "girls" off to the world. :)
  3. Compliments: We are all guilty of fishing for these, but you need someone who gives them when they are deserved and not just for the sake of being nice.
  4. Knows you: Makes you give her all your other swimsuits, so you have no choice but to pack the bikini.

So thanks Brown Rice! Because of her, I'm packing a bikini for Texas. I"ll make sure to upload a picture when I return.

I will say that I am soooooo proud of myself. I'm going to wear a bikini!! Also I was getting all my other vaca outfits together (mostly tank tops and shorts) and was giddy on how well I looked. It's this that keeps my motivation going. Just because I reached my goal, doesn't mean I'm going to stop. I have to maintain my success and head for the next race (so watch out strapless bridesmaid dress)

P.S.  A bikini wax hurts like @#$%& !!! But worth it.

Frustrated!!!!

Today I had bikini #2 arrive and I didn't like the way it looked at all! I really think I don't have the body type for it or more honestly, my body is not there yet. I've been working so hard! The running, abs, yoga, dieting..and still I'm not able to look good in one. Just a bad day. I still have 3 days left which I doubt will change anything, but it looks like a tankini for Texas...all well. I guess I still have a few summer months left to get into a bikini. Not giving up, but so incredibly frustrated!

Bikini Search Frustration!

Today I ordered another bikini. The first one I ordered just didn't work. Which raises the question...do I even have a bikini body type? I have a short torso and large chest and it makes it so frustrating trying to find a bikini!  Attempt #3 is a retro bikini. Hopefully this style fits my body type. Less than two weeks remain until Texas. I'm scrambling trying to get everything ready. This is my one and only summer vaca and I'm going to make it unforgettable.

Right now the temperature looks like it's going to be in the 100's in Austin. I'll be living in shorts, tanktops, and a few sun dresses here and there. It's the final countdown to make sure my legs, arms, and abs are getting toned! It's the last stretch of the race!!! I've worked so hard and I've seen much improvement, but I'm still not quite there yet. Time to start doubling the workouts and miles!

Pain is Gain

Day 2 after soccer and I'm still so sore! Soccer is definitely a rigorous workout. The average mid fielder runs 6 miles in 90 minutes. I loved every second of it though! I can't wait till our next match on Wednesday! I'm still rusty (I haven't really played in the last 5 years) and most of my team is guys. I have to keep reminding myself they will run faster and kick harder than me. :)

I'm really excited that I can add soccer to my workout regime. It is so important to add variety. If you do the same thing over and over again, you will get less results. Adding variety makes it fun, challenging, and able to achieve your goal faster.

Tonight I have to do miles. Amazing how your body is sore, but  yet  you can still make yourself push through it and go further. I have to admit I love being sore. It means I gave my body a wicked workout. Pain is Gain.

Mid Afternoon Munchies

Ugh, it's a little after 3pm and I'm craving chocolate..or something sweet. Instead I'm eating my handful of almonds. You think that I would be proud of myself for eating a healthy snack instead of a candy bar, but nope, I feel unfulfilled. I think the almonds are just making me hungrier.
It's still astounds me how being is shape is hard to do! It's expensive, time consuming, and inconvenient. No wonder why most of America is fat.
But then I catch myself in the mirror and see how cute my new dress looks on my slimmed down body. I smile and think...maybe it's worth the hassle. I feel better, look better, and am just happier.
So I'll continue to eat my almonds and maybe tomorrow add some strawberries for that little bit of sugar rush.
Yay for being healthy.

Lastly, just a little nervous of starting co-ed soccer tonight. I haven't played in such a long time and I have a crappy knee. But it's for the social interaction and exercise right? Yay for getting out there and doing something I love. Fingers are crossed for a cute teammate. :) Let you all know how it goes tomorrow.

Semi-Success!

Woot! Working out while being in Cali was a success! (The title mentions semi-success because I haven't fully reached my goal yet.) I ran over 10 miles, biked over 8, did yoga and walked miles upon miles in L.A. My goal for June is 35 miles, I'm already at 20! Looks like I might have to increase the mileage.

Working out in SoCal is much easier than here.  Running along the beach, in the warm sun, with gorgeous views (the guys are included in that...WOW) Biking on trails to a cute restaurant or yoga studio...all so easy. I wanted to get up every morning and run. I couldn't wait. I now understand why those Cali girls are so skinny. Being near the beach boosted my determination though! In a few weeks I'll hopefully be sporting my bikini.

This week I'm trying out a local yoga studio. In addition to running and Abs, hopefully these next 3 weeks will be  the last little bit I need before heading to Texas. Oh and  my co-ed soccer team starts Wednesday. Fingers crossed that I won't be injured out there on the field :) A knee brace does not look sexy with a bathing suit.

National Running Day!!!

Okay people! Get your butt out there and run! I don't care if you have never ran a day in your life. Run one block or 6 miles. Just do it.
